KAPOHOKINE ADVENTURES
Finest Hawaii Adventure Tours
We also very strongly believe it is our responsibility to improve the health of the Hawaiian Islands, as well as the planet. We negate our carbon use through carbon credit purchases, organize litter clean up on our adopted highway, organize monthly litter pick ups around the Big Island and donate a portion of our proceeds to Big Island educational charities. Join us for an unforgettable day of adventure.
KapohoKine Adventures provides the finest in small group, luxury experiences.
KAPOHOKINE ADVENTURES CERTIFICATION HIGHLIGHTS
KapohoKine Adventures adheres to the reduce/recycle/reuse mantra by substituting employee bottled water with refillable water bottles and camelbaks, and real plates and silverware for plastic and paper on tour. We go beyond these industry standards by removing invasive species and propagating and replanting natives. We work with the Institute of Pacific Islands Forestry, the US Forest Service and University of Hawaii at Manoa on a landmark study of fresh water streams and native opae (shrimp). We work with the State Department of Land and Natural Resources and the USDA’s CREP program to remove cattle and create a riparian buffer to protect the fragile Hilo watershed. All of these initiatives are made possible by our guests.
Ken was a fantastic guide. He was a wealth of information, providing interpretation about Hawaiian culture and Hawaiian legends; information about the local flora and fauna; historical information; as well as geological information. Also the speaker system in the bus is fantastic for those sitting in the back.
Loved the use of reusable plates and utensils. I would encourage looking into moving toward reusable cups or water bottles too.
Likes that you offered a trash and a recycling bag at lunch. Be sure to mention this to guests so they do not accidentally throw things away improperly (this happened on our trip, with trash in the recycle bag).
Love that you admit what you need help with/want more information about and are willing to constantly try new things to improve!
The simple pouring of water over lava rock to see how it drains away is a great interactive learning experience for guests to understand the natural environment of Hawaii.
Great job responding to guest complaints on TripAdvisor.
Love the dual use of your zipline property for both tour operations and conservation.
